Senator Edward Kennedy issues a statement on mesothelioma asbestos litigation

The real crisis in relation to asbestos in the workplace is not potential litigation, but the number of victims who have contracted the deadly disease mesothelioma.

Supporters of the right to propose a fund of 140 billion U.S. dollars of dollars to compensate asbestos, but it is doubtful that even an effort at all this week, the bill will lead to vote on the floor of the U.S. Senate.

As Kennedy says victims of society who are exposed to their relatives sued to create this diseasecosts. The cost to productivity, medicine, nursing is lost, along with payments to meet basic needs must be for family members who have died in the years before their time.

Shifting the financial burden for victims and their families is unacceptable under Kennedy.

Kennedy acknowledges the efforts of Senator Specter and Leahy, who favor the adoption of the law. That said, it has some fundamental flaws, which is an inadequate solution to the pendingCrisis.

Kennedy, our first duty is not bad. The argument that there are some gaps in terms of how the ongoing asbestos litigation should not treat the big push towards the authority of this Act.

Interference of the government expressed concern for the nation by the potential victims of this deadly disease. If the fund has, over time, all types of damage could be liquidated in question. What rights would require the victim in a legal framework for the payment of compensationof the company concerned?
